The renovation project was carried out in a 300 m2 apartment located in a building built in the 1980s in Mexico City. Its privileged location in front of the first section of the Bosque de Chapultepec dictated that all modifications be conducted to make the most of the views and natural lighting.
To increase the dimensions of the main hall, the library and the hall were joined, leaving a slight division between the hall by means of a piece of furniture that separates, but allows the passage of light to the bottom of the space. The columns were mirrored in order to reflect all the views and the natural lighting that enters through the windows. The height of the mezzanine is not very generous, so it was decided not to modify the dimension and location of the panels, in addition to directing the indirect lighting upwards to increase the feeling of spaciousness as much as possible.
All the spaces open and close with sliding doors and some of the walls hide storage and service spaces in their slats, achieving a homogeneous environment in all public areas that were designed to enjoy the spaciousness and different activities all the time. . The kitchen was moved to have a better connection between the public and private areas, increasing the functionality and resulting in the practical spaces requested by the client.
The project is characterized by having a large amount of details and by balancing aesthetics with the operation of each room. All bedrooms have generous spaces, as well as being equipped with private bathroom and dressing room. The television room is planned to be used as a fourth bedroom if necessary. All the bathrooms are covered with marble in a large format and in the rest of the areas the use of walnut and oak wood stands out.
